It's getting late in the Month of Black History. I'd like to present this drawing of Tamara Dobson as Cleopatra Jones. This era in the film industry was a time of discovery, lots of social emotion, and a need to let go of the old ways. Tamara Dobson is gone, now, but I think she should be remembered. P.S. Those Afro's were hell to maintain when there is that much hair!

Janet Gioffre Harrington 27 Feb 2007

Dag, and what a fro she had. This is STUNNING, Carliss. It could well be one of my favorites of yours. Look at that mouth! Great high/low lights. She was a real beauty, and definately worth more credit than she ever got. Great way to immortalize this beauty and talent.

Artist Reply: Heyyyyyyy! I know if you like it, that's a compliment in itself!! For years, I didn't know what had happened to her. Then I found out she had died, last year. The mouth, I tried to get it right, but I think it needs a bit more attention. No botox there! The hair went on for days, I had to hold my arm still so it would stop circling! Hah! Glad you have another favorite, Janet, and thank you!!!!!!!!!!

Carliss, I love that you paid homage to that era when Hollywood decided that they would dare to do some pictures with actors of color. Brave men, no, men who knew that there was great talent brewing and look at the oscars tonight and see how many beautiful actors of color who have turned in magnificent perfomances and win Oscars. Great tribute to her as well. Great acting in the day. Wonderful and very thoughtful. Miguel

Artist Reply: Miguel, I thought of trying the whole Hollywood thing myself, once upon a time, but the negativity of the times, and the fear kept me in Missouri. So, here I am paying tribute to those who were brave enough to risk an attempt. I can't go back, but I can thank them for trying. Thank you, Miguel!
