how long have you been here at AW? I cannot believe my eyes have not seen your work before. Terrific use of low key light. the hand in the forground is very well executed, and the dynamics of the form emerging from the shadows is quite dramatic. The electric blue is definitely an unusual choice but it accents and creates a style that separates you from a pack of figurative painters.
Artist Reply: Wow John!
I took a look at your website, wondering who left me such a helpful and kind message and was completely blown away. I feel honored by you saying anything positive about my work. I am finally starting to do my own paintings after years of painting cornstalks and clouds as a tiny part of scenic crews, and of course, it's really daunting and I have to admit I feel kind of insecure about it. Your comments mean a great deal.
As to the lighting, I was always fascinated by the lighting designers in the theatres I worked in and I try to replicate what they do. I'm flattered you noticed.
Artist Reply: Thanks Gerardo! It means a lot coming from someone with such deeply moving paintings as yourself. You've been on my favorites for a while now...

Outstanding artwork! Classical beauty. With paintings like this it's such a pity we can't expose larger versions here. Thanks for the detail picture.
