Pecking Order or Cardinal Sin?

This is a painting that I expanded from a color gel pen drawing of a couple of years back. Just as the title is a play on words, so too does the piece play off its mixed imagery. This 2007 painting measures 24 by 36 inches. Original Jones Art from Austin, Texas.

Awesome, this. Daring, risky, all the right stuff.

I admit, I laughed at the title because it was so appropriate for this piece. :) I really like this one because of the style and because it really makes me think.

I love the way that you paint, you have an excellent style that I envy, I have an incredibly hard time breaking away from photographic realism. Love the birds, the tone and what this painting says, excellent.

Strong painting with lots of things to say to a viewer. It's almost scary to try to go in there but I think it'll be rewarding to everyone - imagination is a great gift to all of us, as viewers and as artists of course. Let the mind fly - maybe that's what the birdie on the right tries to sing. - I like this picture a lot!

really like the look !

Artist Reply: Thanks, Bill. I appreciate the comment. My newest acrylic would require some censoring, so I've opted to put up some less obviously subversive drawings. i like your clay pieces very much.

great job

great job brilliantly composed

Artist Reply: Thank you, Karim. Your positive comment is much appreciated. I've seen your work---such strong digital imagery! I guess I'm a bit 'old school' in my approach. ;)

This is so fearless and unorthodox -- I think those two qualities make art great, regardless of it's form or style. Great portfolio! Your gel pen drawings are so unique.

Artist Reply: Thank you, Monika. Art should be about progression, not merely an exercise in duplication. And some fun doesn't hurt either. This is 'really' a visual joke, but I'm afraid my humor isn't politically correct enough. ;)
