Greensboro, NC

This is from a photo taken by Shine at the Greensboro, NC concert. Just a bit disappointed with it, because I see where I used my 9 lead mechanical pencil, just a little too strong in the hair. Guess I should have spent more time on it. Kind of don't feel like it tonight, though.

You just don't know when to stop!! LOL!! This is so excellent Carliss, with all of the details so well drawn!! Wonderful job on this portrait!!! ~S

Artist Reply: I know! My artwork is like a visual storybook, eh? Some of it's missing, though. There are some concerts I have not done, yet. Then I'll sprinkle a bit more other stuff in my port. Thanks for being happy to look, and comment!

Very soft, delicate or great portrait!

Artist Reply: It's almost gooey! I did put through a revised one that's not so gooey. Thanks a lot, Jerry!

You've caught his facial expression so well Cezanne and I can find no fault with his hair. It's another well done sketch/drawing to me. I love your work. Whatever you do.

Artist Reply: Sob,sob! Thanks Rohdy! I was really PO'd about it though! That's a lot of pencil, to not be happy with it. Incidentally, I made changes to your B-Day present, too. I was not really happy with it so I'll send updated version, email.

You do excellent detail work and yes we are our worst critics when it comes to our own work.

I love all the drawings you do of Clay even this one that you are not as happy with as you still capture his emotion so beautifully. Happy New Year to you. Jackie

Artist Reply: Thanks so much, Jackie! That helps to know. I've got some more to do of the concerts, so maybe, better next time.

Carliss, Your pencil work is getting better by the day. Keep it up.

Artist Reply: I'm glad you said that Bert! I'm always not believing that it is. Maybe it's a good thing I don't paint. The paint might wind up on the wall! Just kidding. Thank you for being supportive, Bert!!

Artist Reply: Thank you!!

I have to agree with Penny and Theresa...you're your own toughest critic. I DO KNOW though, as I am myself, that if there's something you don't like about this...you're not finished with it yet...ain't it? I've actually rubbed holes right through plenty of drawings erasing!! Then, I'm finished!! It's wonderful. Great somber feeling!!

Artist Reply: Until recently, I thought I had let all that go, but apparently not. I'm of a habit of doing a project, numerous times, but at 3:00am, I just had to stop! Back at work, now so that's a no, no.

Penny Myers 04 Jan 2007

You are too hard on yourself. I think you did a fantastic job on him as always.

Artist Reply: Penny, I know, but after drawing the same person, so many times, wouldn't you think, you'd be past all that? Anyway, maybe I am, and thank you for taking up for me against myself!!

thea walstra 04 Jan 2007

Artist Reply: Thea, thanks in abundance!!!

Joke Schotting 04 Jan 2007

BEAUTIFUL MY FRIEND!!!!!!

Artist Reply: I appreciate that, Joke!! Thank you!

Nelly van Nieuwenhuijzen 04 Jan 2007

Dearest Carliss!!! What an energie you must have to be creating continuously these powerful and beautiful portraits!!!!!!

Artist Reply: Nelly, if you only could see how beaten I am when I spend too much time on a project. I think it's sheer will. On this one, I got so frustrated, but knew I had to go to work in a few hours. So, I made the choice to upload, or fix it later on. I'll fix it later.LOL! Thanks so much!!!
