This is a fun little 'sketch' in watercolor of Santa Claus. Fun playing with that dynamic red hue! Now he's a professional greeting card! To see him and others, please feel free to click here: Icansketchu's Greeting Cards!
THIS IS VERY WELL DONE I THINK IT IS ONE OF YOUR BEST PAINTINGS
Artist Reply: Gerard--wow! Thanks so much for your viewpoint. I had another AW member rate this one a '5' and my head just hung. :( I almost took it off--then thought, no way---he was too much fun to create! So alas, here I am getting your positive feedback--thanks! :) Hope your day goes great! -Kerra
Kerra,
This is amazing work. The eyes are so kind and poignant. You really captured the essence of Santa Claus. I make mini towns and wish I had him to put in one of them that I construct every holiday. This is the most gentle and wonderful Santa a child could ever wish to meet.
You have enormous talent and are very unique in how you present your work. I am so glad to have discovered you so I can follow your work.
Artist Reply: Julie--you have just made my day with your wonderful comment. Poor little Santa--he didn't get rated very well--he actually was given a '5' on here and made me deflate rather quickly. :( So, as you can imagine, you nice words brought on a smile. Thanks so much for taking the time to share your thoughts. :) Hope your day goes GREAT! -Kerra
Kerra, your work is just phenominal. Your painting is vivid. Santa looks as though he is alive. Your work comes to life before the viewer's very eyes. Wonderful work.
Artist Reply: I am absolutely speechless. What a wonderful compliment coming from you. Fernando, sometimes we don't know what a nice word will do for others. Hope your day goes wonderful. :) (smiling) -Kerra
Absolutely love the eyes and ears and shading in the beard. **goes back to studying the image**
Artist Reply: Kirsten--thanks so much for your kind comments! Getting a chance to do a 'fun' painting was a welcomed break from more serious works that 'clutter' up my studio. Sometimes a break from intense scrutiny trying to capture specific details for a likeness is fantastic, isn't it? Hope your day goes great! -Kerra

This Santa transcends such a Worldy Image!!!!! Your creation conjures either a Papa Noel, a St. Nicholas, a Santa, and.....on and on.... Very appealing look of love in his eyes that transitions every nation, every language!!!!!
Artist Reply: :) Thanks for the smile from your comments. Made my day. Hope yours goes great!

Artist Reply: How funny that you said that-(thanks!)-this is one of the few that I 'created'--you know--no references, no 'model'--just a 'head image'. Fun to feel so 'free' without having a likeness to capture--just a who 'new' person!

Artist Reply: Thanks, Renata! I had a lot of fun with this vibrant red--it hit the paper and was like 'whoosh'! :)

Artist Reply: Thanks, Renata! For the Merry Christmas wishes as well as your time looking at some of my work. It's always wonderful to get feedback from others. :)
