this says so much, there's almost a tension in the portrait itself. great techniques too, i always struggle to get that detail with charcoal. i often "cheat" and use a charcoal pencil :D

Artist Reply: Hey, Ed--wow! That's a great compliment from you--I've seen your portfolio. :) I don't know what is going on with charcoal and I--I seem to layer that stuff on so thick it's scary--and I end up wearing more on me than what's left on the paper! I've never known anyone who works in charcoal--so I just kind of 'made up' how to do it--I'm sure someone knows an easier way! -Kerra

You've captured "longing".....the moment when one can hardly breath with what wells up from inside....what a tremendous capture of depth of passion....

Thom Roslan 22 Dec 2006

Beautifully captured.....It's like we're watching a very "intimate" moment of time....sort of intruding....IF you may!

Artist Reply: Thanks for looking at my charcoal work, Thom. This was 'one of those'--you know--you work on it--walk away-work some more--walk away...about a zillion times before I felt I was near the 'complete' stage. I appreciate your feedback. :) Merry Christmas! -Kerra
