tomb at Pere Lachaise

with a small paint kit, i sat on the cobblestones across from this tomb in paris in november. by the time i finished i could no longer feel my hands or my bum. what fun.

Eeeep, not a nice place to work "en plein air"... for my taste at least. But the result is simply beautiful :)

Artist Reply: very kind of you to say. drawing the gargoyles atop Notre Dame was even more daunting. half way through my studies, the only control i could exert on my strokes was from my shoulder and elbow - everything else was frozen to the pencil. But an hour or so at a salon de the in the university district - a few sips and a bit of cake and all was well.
