here again i was drawn to paint a Geisha. I like what you did with this picture. Very exciting
Artist Reply: L.A. thanks so much and sorry it took so long to get back to thank you. I have moved back to my beloved ocean and warmth and am just now getting around to all the emails. My best to you for the holidays and Merry Christmas to you and your love ones. Michael
Your work is wonderful. Brilliant colors. Seems such a shame that their whole life is to serve and I guess they hide behind all the makeup.
Artist Reply: Thanks so much Darlene. In the real world the geisha has a better life then their counterparts in the Orient who are starving. They might have to be subservient but they live well. Not how I would treat a woman or how I would want to be treated but they are not prostitutes as some young women are sold to be in Asian countries by their own families. Travesty either way. But they have more power then they are given credit for. They are more in control of their lives then most. My thanks for your gracious comments on my work. My gratitude to you. Michael
What an abstract perspective of a geisha--who's individuality is almost completely erased with the makeup and hair pieces--let alone the dressings---condensed down into a few simple forms. Love it! -Kerra
