CLose Up of Fungi on Tree Branch

Here is a close up of some fungi on a branch I found along the Merced River, in California. I love the way it forms in shape.

WILD...LOOKS DANGEROUS...HEHE! GREAT SHOT!

Artist Reply: LOL! Nah, a bit fragil actually. A cool growth from the tree, like a frilly lacy to decorate.

great closeup work terry, love the detail

Artist Reply: Thank you so much! I almost walked past this one as I was busy trying to get some photos of birds. Almost tripped on it, that would have been a shame. I surely would have broken it. I thought it much more interesting than the birds.

Beautiful photo Terry!!!!

Artist Reply: Thank you Joke! I amuse my husband by yelling stop the car, I need to walk around a place. I almost always find something neat when I do, even if I didn't see it from the car.

OMG, Terry, you find the neatest things!

Artist Reply: Thank you Emily! As a teen in Maryland, I did a science fair project on Fungi, Lichens, and Sporous plants. I knew where to find them, and in a half hour walk in the woods with my father, gathered about 20 speciums. I got top grade in that one. I knew which were edible as well.

beautiful photograph dont suppose its eatable?

Artist Reply: LOL! It's possible. I will try to identify it if I can. Some of these are edible, or usable for herbal or other things. I know more Eastern woods edibles than West Coast. Will have to learn more when I can. I'm building a little collection of what I find out in this area, as I will be moving out there later this year. I always like to know what grows, lives where I do, as well as rocks and minerals.
