River Oaks Art Center (the Bolton House) 2006

The River Oaks Art Center is a studio and gallery space in Alexandria Louisiana. The nucleus of the institution was the old Bolton House, given to the city by members of the Bolton family. That founding family was prominant in banking and insurance and founded the Rapides Bank (now owned by Chase Bank). Dozens of artists have studio space in the new building and the old house contains administrative space and a gift shop. I donated this painting to an auction to raise funds for the art center.

Splendid painting, David! Excellent colours and very well textured! The contrast is perfect!

Hello David! How's things? This is an interesting building, vaguely neo-classical, vaguely Victorian. It seems to be raised up on a platform. Perhaps to prevent flooding. Beautifully painted. I'll bet they loved it!
