The umbrellas add that critical touch of color. And such a nice color at that. The yellow contrasts with the blue in the sky and in the building. Holland is such a civilized place. We have so much to learn from Dutch pragmatism.
Dutch looks a lot like English, except backwards... In my area all those umbrellas would be open with people huddled beneath in a desperate attempt to keep the blazing sun from burning them to a crisp - also there would be "misters" (devices that spray a fine mist of water into the air in a futile attempt to keep visitors from dropping from heat exhaustion) funny and charming the difference you've shared with us here Thea - looks so inviting - :0)
