Shadows through Old Marbles

Pastel on Canson Mi-Teintes. This is an early painting of mine that sold fairly quickly to a close friend. I was experimenting with pastel trying to create an illusion of glass and the play of light through the chipped and scratched surface of the old marbles. It was a very good learning exercise and stood me in good stead for later paintings

This is wonderful! My dog dug a hole in my garden the other day and a lovely cat's eye marble was on top of the dirt pile - what a gift! Marbles are magical to me and you captured this feeling very nicely!

Artist Reply: Thank you Pat, I am really glad that you enjoyed the painting and what a lucky find with the marble. john

What a wonderful drawing. I really enjoy how you show the chipped glass and also the opalescent color on the far marble. The surface of all the marbles do look like glass of marbles. You did a fantastic job with all the colors.

Artist Reply: Thank you Tami. i am glad you could see so much in the painting
