The Clearing

After 4 weeks without painting I picked up work on a canvas showing a tree and a clearing. I fiddled around with the colours in the lighter areas, did not like what I saw and washed the wet paint partly away. And suddenly there was this woman looking at me. I highlighted her eyes, nose and mouth and the outline of her face and now ... now I have a woman that is a clearing. Who is she? What is she? I do not know but I like her. All I am sure about: With this one I'm definitely not in Kansas anymore.

don't you just love it when this happens in a painting...this is beautiful

Artist Reply: Thank you very much, Shelley! This painting is still one of my all time favourites - and I must have done at least a 100 more since then.

Enchanting, magical piece with a deep spiritual feel :)) das schaue ich mir gerne immer wieder an - märchenhafter Wald mit Traumfrau - so ganz mein fall - einfach zauberhaft (in vielfacher Hinsicht, versteht sich) -

Bernard, there are two women, and there is also one man. the other woman is in the side of the rock, and the man i see, he is laying down on the bottom part.
