Truly a TREAT!!! What wonders this world holds...endless in beauty...What a Divine plant...Brave you!! The true artist and phtographer...Thanks for sharing this with us...I have never seen these in bloom...Excellent dtails...Stunning work Terry!

Artist Reply: Well,I didn't have to go far, and the bee just showed up in the shot. LOL! I just clicked photos and waited for it to leave so I could! There are many beautiful cacti blooms all sorts of sizes and colors around the world. If It wasn't so hot now, I'd brave a trip to the Desrt Bontanical gardens in Phoenix to see the blooms. There is one that has a large pink star shaped bloom I saw. It was reallly fantastic! This is the cactus Iused a photo shot to manipulate into the cactus lace kalidiscope work. Large needles, very sharp. I wanted cacti to grow since a child and my mother had one in a pot. Tiny needles, one preschooler visiting us used to call the , "Hurt me" plant. Well, I got cactus, roadrunners, praire dogs, and had a sidewinder last week. (That one my brother helped me take care of with a sword. His collection finally came in handy!)

Artist Reply: Thank you! I am leary of the bees, as most hives out here are a blend of the aggressive Africanized bees. I haven't ever been stung by a bee, but may be allergic, good probablity with al that I am. So this bee buzzed in asI was leaing into the shot. I waited until it left. Haven't had any aggressive bees so far around my property, so happy about that.

Excellent capture terry!

Artist Reply: Thank you Timothy! This one I helped to plant a couple of years ago. We had to wrapp a blanket around it to protect it and our selves. It was heavy, but worth the effort.

Artist Reply: Thank you Emily!!! I have to remember to check the flowers as the cactus don't all bloom at the same time. I have a huge barrel cactus in another location as tall as I am, that hasn't bloomed yet. I need to pick out some of the old seed pods so it will encourage more blooms. Will have to get some pliers so I don't get stuck by the needles.
