henry

This is an example of a recent commission. The only image the client had was a photo on her mobile phone, not usually the most promising start and the composition was rather strange. However, this was one of those wonderful moments when the result is something you couldn't have predicted. I cut out all background and just concentrated on Henry's dramatic markings. This experience reminded me that sometimes you have to break with convention and leave your comfort zones to achieve the best result.

This is extraordinary. You must be a dog lover to have capture the soulful expression of this gorgeous dalmation. I hope to see more dog portraits in the future. I have two dogs and they would agree that what you perceive as odd is what makes the picture so real and special.

Hey great work thought it was a photo earlier!!!

Artist Reply: thanks, I've actually tweaked the contrast to make it more like the original but that version's not up at the time of writing. I think the odd composition is what makes this more realistic- not posed, more how we see our own pets. Nose first!
