uncial. Poster/Canson paper/gouache
Beautiful and thoughtful painting, Barbara. My daughter is in Afghanistan right now. I think the rights of women are particularly uppermost in her and my mind these days. Great work!
Artist Reply: my prayers for your daughter and your family while they await her return. yes this is also a matter dear to my heart. we must remember always our sisters - not in judgement or disdain, as their journey is a path we cannot understand except to just hope for them to finally find respect. american women are veiled in a whole different way -- cometics, fashion, skimpy clothing, etc... the intent of the cover is not a bad one, it just got out of control...it's all in BALANCE!!! thank you for the comment on this work...
Wonderful unification and tribute to the divine spirit and soul...you bring love to the lines of blue and folds of the mind...the dress is like a movement of truth...splendid tribute to women and the creator... a harmoney of faith...you bring flowers from the dry partched land and colors from the night...I thought I saw a tear fall from your eye and turn into rain...
Barbara, not only u did great work with tempera but u took such a briliant photo of it...wow...double beauty..:)
Artist Reply: thank you! i haven't had a comment on my photo of a picture yet... that blew me away.... especially after viewing your AWESOME portfolio of photography... the veiled woman is a subject near and dear to my heart. for in all ways, women face the "veil" and can use for their benefit if given the empowerment to do so.. sadly most are locked up... it's my aim to paint away at this topic until ALL women East & west can be free....
