Acrylic on wood with oil pastels and stenciled lettering. I was raised Catholic but am now Buddhist. The two men (Buddha and Jesus) shared many of the same ideas. that's what this piece is about. The two phrases in the upper left are Hindi: "Namaste" is a greeting that means "the light (or buddha) in me sees the light in you, and "so'ham" is part of a mantra that translates to "thou art that"... we are all interconnected. I chose to show him as a man, feeling his suffering, as opposed to divine. 24.5 inches by 32.5 inches, with frame. completed April 2005. copyright jeff ostrowski.
