Soul of the Savannah

An adult male savannah elephant -- the largest land mammal in the world -- weighs about 12,000 pounds and stands roughly 10 feet tall at the shoulder. This painting took way longer than I had anticipated .... Not until I reworked the eyes finally did I come to accept it as being finished. 36"(90cm) x 24"(60cm) Oil on stretched canvas Original available for $2000.00

This is a great rendering John of the most intelligent and emotive mammal on earth! No wonder they consider us a unintelligent threat to them, all other creatures and the earth itself....

Your persistance paid of and we are all grateful that you completed it. This is fantastic... you've rendered him as the magestic creature he is... the softness in the eyes is perfect and shows that although he possesses so power he is also gentle.... his tusks show his age and you just gotta love the skin... I can see the hours that must have gone into this... Wonderful work!
