Los Angeles:3rd & Spring St. ca. 1905

This is a 29"x 41" watercolor that was done with the assistance of the Los Angeles Public Library while they were still in their temporary quarters following the 1987 Downtown çentral Library fire. Spring Street between 5th and Temple Sts. was and still is the financial district of Los Angeles. The Pacific Stock Exchange was on Spring St. The building with the tower and red mansard roof in the center right of the painting is the Atcheson, Topeka And Santa Fe RR building. The Southern Pacific Building is to the left. At the extreme upper right can be seen the sign of the Woodbury Business College,

WESTERN ARTWORK By Denny Karchner 07 Jan 2007

outstanding piece as are all of your pieces Stanton. I know what it takes to produce such a piece with this much details and how long an artist probably needs before you sign it. Stunning work, my friend.--Denny

Superb technical quality. I like the historical subject aspect, especially in so far as California is concerned. The state gained 50 million residents since I was born there in 1949 and the changes have been phenomonal, but not always for the better, alas.

Its neat how even the power lines become an important part of the composition.

Artist Reply: You are the first person that has noticed that . It also has the same importance as sip rigging.

Stanton, It's difficult for me to understand how you can produce such beautiful watercolor paintings with so many details. To me, your paintings are the best and belong in the Top 10. Guess you sell them before they're not even finished.
