This is a 14"x 20" watercolor that was inspired by scenes of my childhood of our backyard on Littlefield Ave. in Detroit. We had more trees and shrubs on our property than any other home in the neighborhood. After a fresh snowfall the backyard was transformed into a white wintery paradise of snowladen branches. Also in the first major snowstorm of my first year in college at Eastman while walking to the dorms from the student union, I was reacquainted with the quiet that winter snows bring to the city. In this winter scene I tried to capture solitude and somber beauty that winter brings to city life. A beauty that reaches deep inside you to capture your heart and soul, and abides with you for all the days of your life.

This stunning scene is so very special! Marvelous work, Stanton! I didn't know there was a college named Eastman.... My great-grandmother was an Eastman so I wonder if there is a connection?annette steens 20 May 2007

I LOVE THIS AWESOME WORK!!!!!!Leigh Karchner 06 Jan 2007
Your works are incredibly detailed and so moving Stanton. They have a rich, nostalgic feel to them. Your work doesn't seem to get the kind of attention it deserves on this site. Would you mind if I posted a link to your portfolio on the message boards to draw other artists in to look at your work?Ben Kiger 11 Aug 2006

Perfect beauty!!!!!!!!!!!bert cortes 19 Jan 2006
One more magnificent painting. All of Mr. Manolakas' paintings belong in the Top 10. The idea of how many comments you receive is insane, unless the painting deserves it. AW should change their present method which is based on the number of comments. My opiniion.Pat Abbott 19 Jan 2006
