Ben Reilly, 'Spider-Man' clone

Original Size: aprroximately 10" x 15" This piece is a sample cover I did for Marvel Comics a while back. They were running a series about Peter Parker, the original Spider-Man, being cloned and Ben Reilly was apparently one of those clones. I then decided to reflect what they were doing at the time with this work. Note of Interest: To the best of my knowledge, there was some controversy about this storyline in the comic world, because the writers suggested that Ben Reilly might be the first Spider-Man, and Peter Parker the actual clone. This angered comic purist who don't like such liberties and deviations being taken with a classic comic book character. As a result, Marvel got on track and 'dumped' the revised origin storyline and went back to their original Spidey origin. As for me, Spider-Man will always be Peter Parker!

amazing portrait one of the best spiderman portraits i have seen-i'm blown away from your acrylic skills!!! may i adk do you work on canvas ? or on watercolor paper? beautiful detailed worked!

Artist Reply: Thanks so much! For this piece, I use a medium-textured, watercolor-styled board. With this board, my acrylics seemed to take on a watercolor-like form upon drying, which I liked very much. On a side note, I also use medium-to-rough toothed papers, and canvas, depending on the project.
