Maybe the background you drew represents the flames of a fire, that would make heat. This is awesome and I think you captured the effect you were trying for.
A strong pencil work, not sure about the background though. It may not need it...but you've got me thinking about drawing heat and I suppose each person would have a different interpretation. I do like the figure and you've proved a master with a pencil.
