Mt. Athabasca - 3,491 metres

One of the highlights for visitors to the Canadian Rockies is the Columbia Icefields and a trip up onto the Athabasca Glacier. To the left are Mt. Andromeda and Mt. Athabasca. Both are popular mountains for climbing and the peaks can be reached within a day. If you start early you can make it back by evening. The only hazard is the weather, which can suddenly change and make for a very difficult and very cold descent. I have not done any serious climbing in the Rockies and hardly hiked more than a hour or two. I just thought I'd add that info about the climbing if anyone cares. I took this photo from the patio of the guest house near the parking lot. Someday, I gotta try to go up there!

A mountain always looks best from the bottom. The view at the top is super though. A great shot Peter.
