This is Timi, a stray who set up residence on my front stoop. I have been trying for weeks to get a decient photo of him, but he never stops moving. I've got over a hundred blurry, streaked,or otherwise unaccaptable pics of him. (my cheap digital cameras need a second to lock in autofocus and exposure settings. By the tim the shutter opens he's gone.) So I needed a barrier. The screen door worked well. In the zoom photo I held the camera further away from the screen, you can see the a slight impression of the screen. However when I put the lens up against the screen, the screen acts as a filter, blurring the background in a checker pattern while allowing the subject to be crisp and in focus. Another nifty use for everyday window screen is to use it for photos with lights in them. The light when filtered through a screen will have four long points like a star. You can rotate the orientation of the screen to change the directions of the points of light. Just a few hints from a frugal Photographer. These pics were taken with a Vivitar 3765 digita camera in macro mode.
