Sorry for not getting back to sooner. Yes,
This piece started out as a photograph. The image was taken outside. I then took it into Photoshop and removed the horse from his surroundings and put in a sort of studio background with texure. The last step, I used the smudge tool in photoshop and went over the entire horse and smoothed out the pixels and this was the result. Thanks for asking.
