The Locks at Night

Popularly known as the Ballard Locks because of their location in Seattle's Ballard neighborhood, the Hiram M. Chittenden Locks are a marvel of engineering. Built in the early 20th century by the US Army Corps of Engineers, the locks are part of the canal system that connects salty Puget Sound (and, by extension, the Pacific Ocean) to Seattle's freshwater, providing a link for safe passage of watercraft. Salmon use a manmade "fish ladder" here to navigate their annual spawn through the locks. One of my few attempts at night shots. All feedback is welcome! The information about the locks is from the Mobil Travel Guide.
