Sunset in the Garden

Available Original Art
MEDIUM/GROUND:Oil on canvas

SIZE: 16"x20", unframed

DESCRIPTION: A scene from an artful garden. The ancient purple poppy is commonly used, in art, as an emblem, or symbol, of two Greek Gods. Both Hypnos, the God of sleep, and Morpheus, the God of dreams, were characterized by the poppy flower. Here, They represent the sleep of death and the dream of life through the dead seed pods and the live blooms. Red clover is a symbol for death, and rosemary is for remembrance with happy memories, reminding us that even in death there is beauty.

It has a Van Gogh feel to it with its painterly quality and bold undulating line. Appreciate that you teach through your description. Thanks for the lesson.
