NEWS: 8/15/05: 1st place AW's Horsing Around Contest!
This portrait was one of my earliest commissions. I'm sharing it because it has been undoubtedly my most successful and well loved portrait and remains so today. Friends and family who are so supportive of everything I do will consistently tack on, "...but I still like the boy with the pony best." Whenever they are evaluating my latest portrait.
I can't help but smile because I love it too, but since I drew this portrait back in 1998 I would hope some day with enough growth in my skills and more importantly the right subject, that I might transcend this portrait and give my family a new favorite?

I think Marlene hit the nail on the head. It's the look on the little boys face and the body language. It's a perfect picture of happiness. You could do worse than be remembered for this one! Wonderful piece.Anonymous Guest 23 Mar 2008
Ten years later this is still the best...it captures the pony and his boy...timeless...they are still the same together only with a few more years...great work Laura...lets do it again....Jodi Keys 19 Jan 2008
