Vishnu Sleeping

MEDIUM/GROUND: Oil and acrylic paints on gallery edge wrapped canvas. No frame needed.

SIZE: 18" x 24"

DESCRIPTION: The Hindu God, Vishnu, sleeps in the pool of the subconscious realm. This piece shimmers in an unusual combination of mediums and brush strokes. The left half is oil paint carefully applied in a basket weave stroke so as to catch the light best. This side is very tight and conformed -- restrained. The right side is acrylic, some metallic shimmering blue and pearl (mildly). The strokes are loose and wandering yet hold to an inherent design -- the division of energy -- Force & Form. Yet, at the top, Divine Concordance hovers as the vibrant sphere.

GORGEOUS ... an amazing tribute to teh HIndu God ... it shows your understanding of the religion and your deep thinking ... BRAVO

Artist Reply: Ah, yes, thinking... this painting is a prime example of a conversation with an idea that happens through paint! I thought I knew what sort of image I was going to create when I started -- I had an idea. But the contemplation of God can never end, and no one form alone can express what has been discovered within the heart. :)

A wonderful piece, Tree! Your description is intriguing too. Have you done one of Shiva and Brahma?
