I find this portrait very appealing. He seems so vulnerable. Perhaps it is because of the neck exposure and the downward angle of the face.

Interesting... I find myself peering into the shadows, the urge is to lift off his hat and see his face! Well done. Emotional piece despite it's simplicity. :)
