This is a quick portrait of Amanda ... She's a recent friend, and a fellow Canadian. She wanted to have someone do her portrait as a gift to her boyfriend I think. I tried to give this portrait a bit of a Goth look. The imagery I thought of was strangely enough from an Anne Rice novel of the part where Louis and Claudia had met The Vampires in the Theatre Des Vampyres. I pictured them in their dark hooded robes and their alabaster skin. looking at her ... it reminds me of myself some when I was younger. One of the lost ... One who would have gladly gone, if the Vampires came for her. Turning her back on the world and it's pains. Looking for answers and finding none. A wolf among sheep .... never fitting in with the flock but having nowhere else to go. This is what I see and maybe you'll see it too. Enjoy

Wonderful! Normally, I would suggest to "shade" the whites of the eyes (no one has eyes that white!) but in this case, it really adds to the mood of the picture - dark eye makeup, bright eyes. Very well done - especially for a "quick portrait" ! :)Elizabeth Teed 25 Feb 2005
