6 Horses

An experiment with organization and color. I doubled the laws of three, because it amused me, stacked the horses on top of eachother, because they seemed to fit well that way, and then played with color by making one side cool and the other warm, because I could. The horse heads were then scribled out without any attention to detail other than I wanted each to be an individual.

in arabia (i once lived there) the saying goes that when an artist paints the horse, one taps into the very heartbeat of artistic talent... with this said, your aspirations to be an artist, show that truly you are!

Artist Reply: Thank you! I have heard that saying, but did not know what culture it was from until now. It makes more sense now. I know that the Arabs and Berbers have a love for horses that goes beyond mere companion animal, and embodies the very spirit of pure passion. I have heard that horses were worth more to them than gold and gems in the old world before the automotive revolution, and many sheiks counted their wealth by how many horses they owned. So, I should have guessed that it would have come from that culture, but I did not really know until now. Thank you. I hope that my work eventually meets such an elegant saying some day.
