A little more shadow... I find that once I think I'm done with an oil painting.. I set it aside... wait until fully set and then go in again with more intense shadow work... It is easy to get muttled paint to lose the darks when painting with oils, especially if you are trying to complete one in a single sitting... I only have one on my site that was done in a single session it is hidden waterfall... and I plan to pull it down to add more detail and the remove and re-post it because after more time working with oils I have learned so much... don't use black out of the tube.. rather use a mixture of blues-greens and reds in addition to purples to create a variety of shadow hues and tones.... You are well on your way.. Pay a little more attention to perspective when you choose a subject that is geometric it is crucial unless you go out of perspective throughout or you are trying to create a sence of un-ease... The shelves on the side are a bit off... If you are going for the leaning falling over shelve... that has been achieved but the perspective is still a bit off... take your brush and line it up with one verticle line and then move across the painting to see if things are aligned.... and with that... I will close as I am sure it is starting to look like I'm writing a book... I hope you don't mind my comments:o)
i think youre handling the transition to oils nicely.. im too impatient to do justice to oilwork... lovely shadow sir, and a touch of yesteryear... : ) happy VD !

I really like this kind of painting style. Each stroke has it's own signature. Very classic. I find this painting very appealing. Love all the green!Emily Reed 05 Aug 2005
