11 x 14 Acrylic "Honor the Ancestors" series Cherokee Medicine Woman 1740-1780. "Lame Doe" - Cherokee born abt 1740 Chota Tennessee area of the Cherokee Nation. Her parent had died from smallpox and this child was near death from malnutrition when brought to Granny Hopper a local highly respected medicine woman. Lame Doe carried on with this medicine traditional knowledge throughout her life but died of pneumonia in about 1780. She never married but did heal many, earning her much respect within our tribal medicine society.
