Fern Canyon

The forest primeval exists today in the redwood rainforests of costal Northern California. The canyons only entrance is from a narrow outlet to the sea. Shear rock walls, nearly vertical, are festooned with ancient ferns. Water runoff trickles down from unseen heights and a clear shallow creek meanders underfoot. Colors are saturated, rich, and lush. Deep within the box canyon a fallen redwood stands sentinel over the precious fragility of this cross section in time. It could easily be sixty million years ago. The ten-month painting remains a color awakening into the realm of intuition and all subsequent works have been leaps of faith grounded in awareness. This image is painted on canvas and is also available in limited edition giclee prints. email for pricing.
