First Snowfall

I live in the Colorado Rockies at over 7000 feet. When the first snowfall of the season hits it's usually above 10,000 feet. It can be weeks or even months before we get a snow storm where I live. In this painting I have the sky full of stormy clouds with snow on the tops of the mountains. Winter is near. The rivers have not frozen over and are running strong as the water rushes over the falls. The forest is lush from having good winter snowfalls and the land is flourshing. As the cold months approach a quietness seeps in and the land is prepares for a long winter rest.
