Artist Reply: Thank you, Michael.
For this "ghost portrait of my Dad" I chose for a title, his term for "gone to bed" or "gone to sleep". This was the back porch of the farm house where I grew up. No indoor plumbing. That's why the drinking dipper and the wash-pan.
BTW, Your portfolio has some really interesting work!
WOW ROBERT, WHAT A FANTASTIC PAINTING. THE ANGLE IS RARE, INTERESTING AND MARVELOUS. BEAUTIFUL WORK.
Artist Reply: Thanks Joanie and GOOD EYE! I placed the viewer high, floating up near the ceiling. GHOST-LIKE. Also all the perspectives are a bit off. I wanted a quaint, homey look which, after a bit, seems somehow UNEASY. Like something in a dream. Maybe the viewer is just dreaming this?
This is so homey and tells a story. They have a dog, we must like him, her, or them! Super painting.
Artist Reply: Ginger, thank you! I do hope this painting tells a story. I certainly meant for it to. It is filled with symbolism. Hint--My dad's hanging work clothes represent a body with no spirit.
Lots more. I consider this to be my lifetimes best work.
