It is always exciting to see butterflies as they are becoming fewer in number. The pipevine swallowtail, similar to the black swallowtail, has blue-green iridescence on the abdomen and the top side of the wings.

I was unaware of declining numbers of butterflies. When I was young they were a target for my BB gun. Every bug I knew of then had bitten me including butterflies.
