Pii'kea

Ti leaf ~ PiikeaThe Hawaiians consider the Ti plant a sacred symbol of the god Lono and an emblem of divine power. They frequently plant Ti around their homes and temples to keep bad spirits away and hold the good fortune inside. It is said that Ti, planted to the right of one's front door, will ward off evil spirits. The leaves are also used to oki, to cut and to release, whatever bound spirits to this world, to allow them to go on to their proper place.
