It was raining and I knew that I should be at my art table, but I just didn't feel like it. So off we drove to Barnes & Noble's for coffee and books. As we sat in the parking lot and I looked out the car window at others going in to the store for perhaps the very same things we were, I realized I was looking at a potential art piece. I took a photograph of the scene and it is the basis of what you see here. Rain has a wonderful way of twisting realism into a more abstract form. The piece is titled "Rainy Day Pleasures". It is done on matte surfaced Dura-lar polyester film using Faber-Castell Polychromos, Prismacolor Verithin, and Marshall's pencils. Also some graphite was used. The piece measures 12 X 18 inches. It was a worthwhile visit to Barnes & Noble. I hope that this piece reminds you of similar such days.

As a manager at a Barnes & Noble, I can't help but adore this piece. Your colors are beautiful, and I love the way you captured the distortion of looking through rain covered glass.

Artist Reply: Stacie: thanks so much for looking and for your wonderful comment. I love to go to our Barnes & Noble because of the atmosphere and truth be told, the wonderful combination of smells offered by books and coffee! Have a great day. Best regards, Will
