"Gemstone" is a set of two abstract, heavily textured mixed media paintings. Each measures 12"x12"x1.5" and is embellished with composite gold leaf, metallic bronze and iridescent gold paints, giving the paintings a shimmering glow that dances in the light. A glossy acrylic sealer has been applied to the surface of the paintings to give the illusion of depth and to protect the beauty of the work. The rich look of precious gems and the patina of rust are combined together in these unique pieces. The sides are painted in a steely black/gray micaceous iron oxide. The work is signed on the side of one of the canvases, dated and signed on the back of each. These paintings are wired and ready to hang. Framing is not needed.
