The only swan at White Rock Lake has obviously become used to humans feeding him bread and other things so he was very close to the pier, really begging silently. Their natural diet is plants that grow in the water. (Mute swans make a hissing sound if they feel their young are threatened.)

Swans tend to be on the offensive with other waterfowl. As long as you feed them they will pretend to be docile.
