The "baby" seems a bit old for receiving food from her mother like this, but for sure the tenderness is there!
Artist Reply: I do not think that it is being fed. I think she is wiping down the face trying to cool a fever. The way the whole statue looks (the mother, the younger one, and the older one) it seems that the young one is sick
