Greetings, again, fine artist Anneke! Once again you perform your masterful artistry, giving to us -- indeed for the whole world! -- such beauty, while demonstrating the HUMAN SPIRIT within and among individuals (even animals!) that can lead all people and countries eventually to world peace. What a peaceful sunny day -- just a smooth spreading of light clouds. White AND yellow daffodils with many buds heralding spring and tulips after winter! I cannot express enough my appreciation for your wonderful, hopeful giving, Anneke. But thank you for every one of your paintings. How delightful this one! The peaceful mood among 4 boys and a girl (5 darling portraits -- not surprisingly here: the boys light-haired, and only the girl so dark-haired; ten arms and hands, always so difficult to place and paint naturally, and including a self-portrait?), even 4 pairs of clogs and 1 of boots; 3 netherland kine; a hen and rooster; a beautiful dog sporting the colors of those three cows: in each set one pair looking especially affectionate toward each other -- hen and rooster -- chickens so challenging to a painter, I think; a steer and cow (?); boy and girl; the dog, of course, friendly with the group of humans, but especially toward the girl (his mistress?) whose hair style is so familiar to all of us! And finally, I can't help thinking of the traditional Netherland world masters at painting individual portraits of members of a group so that they also blend realistically into that group: Especially Rembrandt van Rijn and Frans Hals. Of course, the painters were men during the Seventeenth Century, and the groups involved men who were important in some sort of business, politics, defense. No such important women. And now we have numerous women accomplishing in ArtWanted and posting their paintings in other places as well, and giving in every area of life, often especially in raising such children as these sitting on that old fence. And so we definitely must include them as we honor the accomplishments of our heroes in all areas of life, and that we all must take heart from their examples of courage and giving. And that is what this painting of Anneke's gives to me, as so many of hers move further in the direction of such support. Today, while wars still rage ruthlessly in so much of our world, we must remember to honor and value our liberators who gave for us the greatest giving: themselves. This Liberation Day, as Anneke wrote, our Netherlands is "Blessed to live in peace, thanks to all the brave men who died to bring us peace."
