This is my first attempt at a herbal-type illustration which is something I've been wanting to work at for ages due to my dual love of Victorian flower language and plants in general. This was mostly watercolours with a bit of pencil crayon on the leaves and stem for shading. The texture and slight blue-tinted edges of the petals hasn't shown up well in this photo - I'll try and add a better one later when the light is with me (scanning doesn't work well either). As an aside - I'll quite happily do a postcard size herbal drawing if you message me or reply here with a flower and/or meaning you'd like. Once done I'll even send the finished product to you if you want it, international post included.
