A bit of a change of pace - I decided to do a color pencil piece for a change. This picture was done on mattboard using Prismacolor Premier pencils. It is a gift for a workmate who is retiring. I hope she likes it. To me, color pencils are one of the unsung heroes of artwork, I love using them.... I will do a few more I think...

OUTSTANDING COLOR PENCIL WORK DALLAS.. THIS IS BEAUTIFUL.. I LOVE MY OILS AND WATER COLORS AND HAVE DONE A FEW COLORED PENCILS LATELY.. AND FIND IT VERY DIFFICULT.. I LIKE TO "SPREAD" THE MEDIUM AROUND AND BLEND SO LEARNING HOW TO USE THE C/PENCILS IS A NEW VENTURE .. YOU DO JUST WONDERFUL WORK.. SHE WILL LOVE IT. JOANIE

Artist Reply: Thank You Joanie... I goofed on the brand name of the pencils, they are actually Prismacolor. There are a few things that will help you when working with color pencil. The first is the choice or type of pencil you choose. I use either Prismacolor Premier or Faber Castell Polychromos. (Polychromos has a harder "lead" than the prismacolor, great for sharp details) Prismacolor make a great colorless blending pencil, it's a must have. Additionally, I use a battery powered eraser to do the highlights. Mattboard and Cresent board or Watercolor paper are the choice to work on. Cheers - Dallas
