"The George Allen is listed as being at her home port of Astoria, Oregon, according to the Fisherman's Marketing Association Vessel List in November 2009. She is a commercial crab fishing boat.”

Artist comment: "My research on the George Allen is dated November 2009. According to the internet they fish for hake, a type of cod (I Googled 'fishing boat george allen astoria or). I found out about the process they use to net tons of fish, how they store and preserve them, and what it takes to be a commercial fisherman. My personal attachement to the 'George Allen' is it's sleek lines and beautiful blue color. When I saw her at the Astoria bridge, I knew I had to paint her. I chose pastel on Canson Mi-Teintes ivory toned paper. Starting with sky and river, I rendered a blended sky and reflective water. Then I painted the bridge, ending with the boat. I painted the largest areas of color, rendered the lines and spars, finally drawing the rust and the green of the drag net.”
