Fire and Ice

One would not think that such contrasts could exist, but in the Northeast the high country in often is covered with snow long before the trees shed their fall leaves. In this painting, the contrasts are incredible. The orange of the leaves play the compliment to the blue of the mountain peaks creating a sense of hot and cold within the same painting. The use of cold wax blended with the oils gives the painting a rich textural appearance. Mixed media on canvas. 45.7 cm x 61 cm. 2009.
