Ruby Lily

"The fishing boat 'Ruby Lily' moves steadily on the Columbia River under the Astoria/Megler bridge.”

Artist comment: "This pastel painting is another in my series of Astoria, Oregon waterfront scenes. The commercial fishing vessel, Ruby Lily, is of particular fascination for me. I have a 'thing' for boats (of all kinds), so I especially enjoyed this subject. I chose pastel as my medium for its brilliance of color and the ease of application and no waiting for paint to 'dry'. Starting with the sky, I painted the background and then the foreground water. I painted the bridge and it's piling, saving the boat until last. I used pastel pencil for the fine detail of trim and rigging.”

Edition length is 3600 authorized, signed, limited edition prints (3500 numbered and 100 artist proofs).
