A little chapel next to the oldest tree in our country, The Kroezeboom (curled tree), about 500 years old. These trees indicate a border or junction from which the fields were divided. It was also often a sacred place and lawsuits were held at it.

Vincent von Frese 13 Aug 2011

Anneke, seems lots of emotions and stories surround this tree and nice of youmto spotlight it in a very good painting!

Artist Reply: I think this is not the first time this old tree is painted and it will sure not be the last time. It's a meeting point and has indeed seen a lot over the years. So many people sat in its shade, if this tree could talk it would tell wonderful stories, I bet! :) Thank you for your beautiful words to my work, Vincent!

Stanley Layman 13 Aug 2011

Outdoor chapels are not unknown here, we have a few. We also have curled trees. There are very few over 200 years old anywhere nearby. Your composition reminds me of a roadside park!

Artist Reply: I don't know what a roadside park is, but the landscape over there is sure as beautiful as a park and the tree is standing next to a small country road. :) Thank you very much for stopping by, Stanley!

LouAnn Knight 12 Aug 2011

Oh this is so beautiful. What did you use to make the tree so 3D.. It looks like it's loaded with honey... or a glazed finish. It must be even more gorgeous in "real life" so to speak.

Artist Reply: I used some paste to make the acrylics feel like oils.:) And a lot of paint layers too. It's indeed difficult to get a good picture of the real painting. I have it hanging on my wall. :) Thank you for your sweet words, LouAnn.

Beautiful painting and wonderful story over the place. Waar is het precies Anneke? Misschien kan ik daar eens langs fietsen.

What a glorious painting this is,the composition is beautifully handled,I love all the greens in it and the old tree has lots of nice texture and rich browns that work well with the rest of the scene.
